Union Hall girl walking 160km for Irish Cancer Society

Mae with her beloved Grandfather.

Mae Lynch is planning on walking the distance of the round trip from her house in Union Hall in West Cork to Cork City and back (160km) by May 18 to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society in memory of her grandad. Mae lost her beloved granddad suddenly to cancer last year.

“I want to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society in honour of my grandad who was my best friend,” she says. “We unexpectedly lost him at the end of last year. He was fighting lung cancer and we were under the impression he was winning. Sadly in a matter of hours everything changed and we had to say goodbye.”

I’d love to make a donation in his name as he was and always will be someone who impacts my life in the most wonderful way. He was a fighter, a determined, independent and proud man. I want to do this to make him proud and in his memory.”

Mae would greatly appreciate any form of support, from a donation to sharing this on your social media. She would also love if anyone wants to join her, maybe for the same charity, another one or just for fun!
