Sherkin Island showcases its creativity this summer

The Sherkin Island community has opened its series of summer art exhibitions. Starting with the annual community exhibition in the Community Hall until Sunday July 2, a series of exhibitions will follow throughout the summer months.

Textile artist, Jordyn Lynch and multimedia artist, Dara Simpson, will have a joint show from July 3-9. 

Catching the Light, a joint exhibition with artist, Jo Ashby and island photographer, Robbie Murphy, follows from July 10-20.

Richard Winfield’s photographic exhibition, The Magic of Trees, runs from the July  22-27 and then a joint exhibition with Nigel Towse and John Simpson follows from July29 – August 9.

Collage artist, Tara O’ Donoghue’s exhibition, Call a Spade a Spade will run from August 10-17, followed by Tina Reed from August 18-27 with her Sherkin Island, Hedgerows and Headlands exhibition.

Known as ‘Island of the Arts’, Sherkin Island has attracted a population of creative individuals including professional and non-professional artists, musicians, writers and photographers.
