Clonakilty Street Carnival is supported again this year by platinum sponsor Irish Yogurts Clonakilty. Irish Yogurts Clonakilty, an award-winning family-run company, is celebrating 25 years in business in 2019 – Diarmuid O’Sullivan started the business on March 1, 1994.
Ireland’s first Autism friendly town, Clonakilty is delighted to announce that as part of the Family Fun Zone and assisted by the Autism Awareness Group and Sensational Kids, a sensory and quiet area have been added to the Clonakilty Street Carnival. Organiser of the Family Area, Michelle Mitton comments: “We see this as an important new addition to the Carnival. We wanted to provide as much fun for the children who find some of the noisier elements too much. As Ireland’s first Autism Friendly town we are always striving to be inclusive of all our community.”
The Clonakilty Street Carnival will see the colourful streets and the people of Clonakilty in festival mood and the town will be fully pedestrianised from 9am until 9pm. Throughout carnival day visitors may look forward to live music, a kids zone with supervised bouncy castles, face painting, magicians, bubbles and popcorn machines (Ashe Street), as well as giant games, ping pong, crazy golf and much more.
Top restaurants in Clonakilty aim to serve up to 1,200 people this year at the carnival dinner party, set along the towns’ main street with the finest local seafood available on the day to street diners. Food service commences at 3pm offering €15 adult meals and €7 children’s meals, with meat, seafood, vegetarian and vegan options. As places for the dinner party are limited, meal tickets must be purchased as soon as possible, locally or on www.clonakilty.ie.
